How environmentally friendly is the new packaging?

For over two decades, Kyocera has been dedicated to developing multifunctional printers (MFPs) and printers with long-life parts and low-waste credentials, prioritising sustainability in its operations. This commitment extends to its packaging practices, where Kyocera predominantly utilises recycled paper materials such as pulp moulds and corrugated boards, minimising the use of plastics.

The challenge of creating environmentally friendly packaging often lies in optimising space efficiency. When tasked with packaging its high-capacity ink supply unit, which includes various components of different shapes and materials, Kyocera embarked on a journey of research and development to find a solution.

How does the new packaging work?

Through meticulous innovation, Kyocera devised a groundbreaking packaging method where bundled items are seamlessly integrated into the cushioning material used for the machines themselves. This ingenious approach not only maintains the compactness of the packaging but also eliminates the need for additional packing boxes, significantly reducing waste. As a result, shipping efficiency has been enhanced by 50%, with a remarkable 30% decrease in packaging materials.
